Summer 2013 Goals

The closer it gets to fall, the more I’m reflecting on this summer and what I wish I had done. In all honesty, it was too hot to do anything fun this year. For me, anyway. I didn’t even swim! Pretty sure that’s the first time in my life I went a whole summer without swimming. Yeah, I did bad this year.

With that said, I’m determined to make next summer as fun and special as possible. Here’s what I would like to do.

(Blythe Ponytail Parades)

(Sincerely, Kinsey)

1. Get good at taking night pictures and shoot at a fair. The last few years, our county fair has downgraded SEVERELY. In high school, it was the best thing ever. I would always go on the night of my last day of school. It was always a magical way to start summer. Even though it’s not like it used to be, I’m determined to capture what little magicalness it has left!

(The Dainty Squid)

2. Explore what little bodies of water Tennessee does have. Mainly lakes and creeks, but whatever works! Maybe I’ll add to the tiny rock collection I started a couple summers ago. I used to keep them on my nightstand, and Trey even has a couple in his car. I like the sparkly ones.

(A Beautiful Mess)

3. Take advantage of summer storms. During middle school, you better believe I was outside every time it rained. I loved it. Everything is more fun! Rollerblading, basketball, or just jumping in puddles while wearing cute rain boots! I very much miss this.

(The Mumukshu Soul)

4. Take a night road trip to somewhere scenic and capture the sunrise. I’m thinking Natchez Trace.

(Jim Richardson)

5. Capture the fireflies. I used to love driving past open fields at night just to watch them fly by like shooting stars. When it comes down to it, they’re my favorite thing about summer.

It’s not a lot at the moment, but I assure you, the list will grow as the year moves on. I miss summer, already. Even if it wasn’t an exciting one.

Anyone already thinking about their next summer plans?

Like I said,

Sometimes an internet break is good for me. I’m feeling creative again, so I’ll have some things to share soon :)

I hope everyone is doing well!

Inspiration

(Fabian Ciraolo)

There’s not a single thing I don’t like about these works of art. I love seeing an updated Dorothy!

(Rebekka Ivàcson)

I love the emotion she’s able to capture in her paintings.

(Forkell)

Ugh these boots depress me! I want them so bad. Everything about them is perfect.

(Rickety Rack)

I really like the contrast between the lace and the bold, hot pink. Such a pretty little dress.

(P.S. I Made This)

I really like the idea of using ombre on things other than hair. I love the look on nails and walls. The color chosen for this is perfect!

(A Beautiful Mess)

I found Elsie’s color stories to be really inspirational. She makes a good point.

(Billabong)

Fashion videos like this inspire me to no end. They’re so unique and beautifully made.

(Sincerely, Kinsey)

These engagement pictures are gorgeous. This one particularly reminds me of The Notebook (the old look/farris wheel/night time thing going on). Cute <3

Have a good week!

Name that movie? It’s only my all-time favorite ;)

A Day Off

My best friend was home from college for a couple of days, so we went to PetSmart for some nummy crickets! Those things creep me out, and seeing the process of feeding a small dragon was almost disturbing, but extremely entertaining.

We sat in the parking lot of a soccer field for about an hour or so, waiting for a tow truck to pick up her brother’s car. It was hot outside, but we got to talk for a little while, which was nice. I’m going to steal her precious cat! This little guy is the softest, sweetest cat I think I’ve ever met. I’m not a cat person, but he’s an exception (along with Simba Kitty, of course).

Not a bad day, at all :) How was your Tuesday?

The Bridge

This place holds a lot of fond memories for me. It was our main hang out during the final semester of high school and all during the summer. A lot of nights spent here watching trains passing by and seeing who can throw rocks the furthest. Getting questioned by the cops for being there past 11 pm (there was no sign saying the park closed, so we were innocent!), seeing hobos riding a train, new feelings and the excitement of finishing high school. We even graffiti-ed the bridge with chalk, which I accidentally left there and never saw again. It was a sad night for me. This little park will always hold a special place in my heart.

I got this dress off ebay and it had short sleeves on it, but they weren’t working for me so I cut them off. I actually think it looks a lot better with a little fray. Adds edge, which in my opinion, is really good contrast to something so girly (floral, dressy… yeah). I love the balance.

Inspiration

(PhotoTuts Plus)

Some of these self-portraits are so inspiring and unique. I love seeing people’s different styles and ways they view themselves.

(Apartment Therapy)

I adore this gender announcement! It can’t get any cuter!

(Ashley Percival)

I want this so bad I could cry. I almost mean that.

(House of Holland)

The color combination of this dress is so different. Like I can’t stop staring. It’s so vibrant and loud! I love it!

(Anthropology)

These Handpainted Taika Flats are almost to die for. Those colors are perfect! I wonder how easy it would be to make my own?

(Sincerely, Kinsey)

I loved Kinsey’s inspiration board! I’ve never seen one like it. Very charming!

Not as much computer time this week. I worked a lot, and when I work a lot, I sleep a lot. But I’m off tomorrow and my best friend is visiting from college! :)

Hope everyone’s Monday was spectacular!

1,000 Julys

Before I officially say hello to August, I wanted to say a quick goodbye to July. These are my favorite snapshots from this month. We spent a lot of time outside chilling, grilling, campfire-ing, gardening, walking. I’m starting to brainstorm a desk area makeover, it needs it. I got a few “new” clothes and have been LOVING putting new outfits together. I hung out with Pepper a little bit. He decided to read blogs with me that day. And of course, I worked. Not as much, which was really nice, but my hours are climbing back up so no more being bone broke! Which is also nice.

All in all, July wasn’t so bad. But I’m glad to have a fresh start for August. With that said, I’m off to shower and get ready for the day. I’m thinking about visiting a book store and a lovely park I haven’t been to in a really long time. We’ll see :)

Have a good Thursday!
