I’ve always thought mushrooms were neat. There are SO many different kinds! I never really paid so much attention to them until I started reading The Dainty Squid’s blog. Since I started following her blog I’ve been seeing more and more mushrooms pretty much wherever I go this particular spring. I don’t know if it’s just because she brings so much attention to them or what, but every time I see one I think “OOO! I wonder if she finds these often or would know what it is?” Is that weird?
No, I’ll tell you what’s weird. Not only have I been noticing them more and more, but the other night I went into the laundry room to get a water and I just so happened to notice a little stack of books on one of the shelves. Guess what was right smack in the middle?
My jaw dropped and I yelled, “NO WAY!” It’s been with me ever since.
I’m in the process of (trying!) to identify them. I’m about 60% sure that this one is a Spring Wood-Chip Agrocybe. However you pronounce that. It was right in front of our garden, which is where they are found, according to the book.
Anyway, I’m pretty freaking excited! Now I have something to look for when I’m outside and can research and teach myself super cool nature things!
Have a good Friday, everyone!
