A Starry Forecast

I’ve always had a big crush on stars. My main reason for begging my parents for a trampoline was just so I could lie on it during summer nights and star gaze. And that’s exactly what I did. We had a meteor shower a couple summers ago, the night before my best friend went away to college. It was the perfect ending to a perfect summer.

I used an old box lid to make this diorama. I used different shades of blue acrylic and bronzer (yes, the makeup) for the shiny effect, mainly because I didn’t have any gold paint. The figure is a model cut out from a fashion magazine, and I had to make the little umbrella so the shooting stars wouldn’t hit the poor girl. I really liked how it turned out, though. It’s fun to look at.

I’ll always love escaping into a starry night.
